Smash, is just that!

I’ve been fortunate to see the pilot of the new musical series Smash! Let me tell you, it is one! It’s my favorite pilot of the year thus far!

At first glance, it seems a bit like Glee, but that’s not what the final product is like at all. The musical numbers are exciting and fresh, as is the cast: especially Megan Hilty! She will be a household name very soon!

It’s a great premise, and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the season goes!

Smash Debuts Feb 6!

Ricky Martin says he is not getting married (yet)!

Despite rumours to the contrary, Ricky Martin is not getting married yet.

The singer’s publicist has told the Spanish language edition of People that there are no wedding plans and that there is no announcement to be made.

Sources had reported that Martin was to marry his companion, Carlos Gonzalez Abella, in a ceremony in New York later this month.

Ricky certainly has a lot on his plate right now. He is already the father of 3 year old twin boys and hopes to have a daughter this year. He’ll also be starring as Che Guevara on Broadway in the production of Evita this April and is scheduled to appear on Fox’s Glee this spring!

Busy guy!

Take a bow, Darren Criss!

Look how far he has come from McKinley High!

Darren Criss (from Glee!!) made his Broadway debut in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Tuesday evening in NYC to a sold out crowd (probably consisting mostly of Gleeks).

Looks like he had fun!

18th Annual SAG Award nominations announced!

The nominees for the 18th annual SAG Awards have been announced and The Help and The Artist lead the race in the film categories with 4 and 3 nominations respectively.

I really like these awards; they recognize an ensemble in addition to singling out individual performances. Comedies seem to get equal time and consideration as well.

I’ll admit that I was somewhat surprised to see nominations for Bridesmaids (Ensemble Cast, Supporting Actor – Melissa McCarthy), something I had dismissed as just a fluffy formulaic comedy… but now I’m really curious to see what all the buzz is about!

I’m also rather surprised shocked to see that Shailene Woodley was not nominated for her performance in The Descendants. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth she showed in that film. I’m anxious to see how Michelle Williams fares for her stunning performance in My Week With Marilyn.

The competition looks good in the Sexiest Man Male Lead Actor category. With countless nominations under his belt, could this be the year for Leonardo DiCaprio (J. Edgar)?

In the television movie / miniseries categories, Mildred Pierce (a remake of the classic Oscar-winning 1945 film) and Too Big to Fail each scored 2 nominations while the highly publicized The Kennedys received one well-deserved nod for Lead Actor Greg Kinnear’s spot-on performance as John F. Kennedy.

For the television nominations, Modern Family is once again a strong contender with five nominations including one for Outstanding Comedy Ensemble and competing nods for actors (Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet) and actresses (Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara). Betty White (she’ll be 90 in January!) was also recognized for her performance in Hot in Cleveland.

Rounding out the top were Dexter (Actor Michael C. Hall, Drama Ensemble, Stunt Ensemble), and 30 Rock (Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey in acting categories, Comedy Ensemble), each with three nominations.

Speaking of Comedy Ensemble, it looks like a very interesting race (30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, The Office). Personally, I think The Office has become a bit tired lately, but I always get a laugh from the writing and acting on The Big Bang Theory.

Agree? Disagree?

Tune in on Sunday 29 January 2012 to see who carries home the bronze statuette at the SAG Awards!

Guess who’s coming to Glee!?

After the very powerful episode of Glee three days ago, where Santana came out as a lesbian, the internet was ablaze with speculations as to who would play her (supportive, but unseen) parents.

Well…

One half of the mystery is almost solved!

Yea, Gloria Estefan is in talks to play the latino cheerleader’s mother. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT CASTING. Yupp, I believe that deserved caps.

Hopefully she signs on, she would be ridiculous not to!

Cory Monteith celebrates the Grey Cup!

It’s so nice to see the actor showing some hometown pride!

Glee star Cory Monteith was named the grand marshal in the Grey Cup Parade on Sunday in Vancouver. He rode in the back of a pickup truck waving to fans while sporting a BC Lions jersey.

Great to know that he hasn’t forgotten his roots!

American Horror Story’s ratings are scary good!

I’m surprised. American Horror Story premiered last night and the ratings were huge. I was not quite sure how well a psycho-sexual horror show from the creators of Glee would do in the ratings…

But I guess audiences wanted their horrox fix!

The FX show premiered to 5 million people in its 1st airing!

Impressive!!

Have not seen the show yet, but have heard mixed-positive reviews!

What did U think of the premiere?

This looks eery!

FX’s new series American Horror Story premieres in approximately 3 weeks, and man does it look creep-tastic! With this solid a cast and creative team, here’s hoping the show is fantastic!

Just like Nip/Tuck and season one of Glee!

Don’t let us down, Ryan Murphy.

What do U think?
