After a rather rapid climb to fame and tumble into relative obscurity, American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is putting his performing career on hold in order to pursue another passion: becoming a Mormon missionary.

Starting next year, Archie will need to put aside his music career in addition to any schooling, work and dating for the next 2 years while he devotes himself completely to preaching the gospel of his church.

“It’s not because someone told me I was supposed to do it and not because I no longer want to do music anymore.” It’s because it’s what I feel I need to do next in my life.”

While religion rarely escapes ridicule (some might joke that he was inspired by Latter Days or Book of Mormon), his website shows a very genuine and emotionally overwhelmed 20 year old proudly proclaiming his plans.

Good luck, David! We all need to follow our dreams!

Ciara‘s not the only one.

Sadly, David Archuleta has been axed  by Jive Records after his latest album flopped. The Other Side of Down didn’t bring in the numbers!

I know why, the music on it was boring!  

Can  anyone even tell  me the name of one  song that was on it?

David Archuleta used to be somewhat cute,  but  now he just  looks gross. Maybe  I’m being too mean. Hah  whatever, he’s a has-been!

That’ll never be relevant again!

So anyway…

The singer was spotted signing copies of his new book at Borders in NYC recently.  Hmm, wonder when he’s gonna  step out of the closet!

I know there’s a Queen inside of  him, waiting to be set free!

This makes us smile!
