Today is the release of Kristina Maria’s debut album Tell The World. It’s actually pretty cute. I didn’t expect to like any of it. Usually when a new artist puts out a couple of singles, they’re most likely the best tracks on the record. In this case, the singles haven’t even scratched the surface of how good this CD is. The production value is amazing! You can tell that she put a lot of hard work into the project. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. You have your pop tracks, your ballads, and R&B grooves with European dance influences.
Her first single [Let’s Play] opens the disc as a mid-tempo ball of hotness. The beat is so simple yet so sexy. It’s followed by Track Number Two, [Karma]. This is one of the foundational tracks that make this album so wonderful. It’s strong, spunky and unapologetic. I’m not sure why, but it oddly reminds me of t.A.T.u. (remember them?)
She’s got a bunch of great R&B tracks that switches it up. [We Belong Together] is one of those songs that start off kinda slow. At first glance it doesn’t really live up to the title, but builds itself into a very powerful track. By the end of the song you find yourself eating every word that comes out of her mouth. Same thing goes with [Alright]; it also starts off a bit slow but picks up as it progresses. I definitely appreciate the Mariah Carey influence. I got fooled by [Run]. The intro sounds like a dance track until her vocals kick in. It’s a sexy R&B Ballad. I’d love to have this be an urban single.
There are a few outstanding ballads that I really enjoyed. [Understatement] is truly an understatement. It’s a beautiful love song about the yearning you get when your loved one is no longer by your side. [It’s All Games] is strangely a very well written track. At first I didn’t know how I felt about it. It took me a couple of listens before its simplicity to hit me. I would love to hear her sing it live with just a guitar or piano. [It’s You] is the type of track that I would choose to sing myself. It makes me want to fall in love again. Instant classic! The way she sings it reminds me of Season 10 of American Idol when Stefano Langone sang [If You Don’t Know Me By Now].
The major dance track on here is [Our Song Comes On]. It’s infectiously catchy. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself singing every lyric subconsciously. It’s almost sickening. Then we’ve got [I Wanna Tell The World] and [Up And Up]; two very upbeat and positive tracks. I would say they’re both very versatile records because you could listen to them alone or at the club. Something just takes over and fills you up with happiness.
What can I say bout [Co-Pilot]? It’s this year’s JAM! Everyone and their dog has heard the song. You can’t go anywhere and not hear it playing. It’s stupidly popular. She not only gives us this gem of a track, but also adds a bonus French Remix at the end too. It’s a great way to finish off the album. It leaves you feeling happy and perky.
Hands down; my two favorite tracks on the album are [FML X2] and [Animal]! Both are co-written with JC Chasez. He’s come a long way since his days in *NSYNC. They add great variety to the disc. They’re fun, flirty, and witty. It sounds like something that Britney Spears might record. It surprised me because I wouldn’t expect a new artist to have such a great collaboration. Good on you Kristina with-a “k”, good on you!
All in all, it’s a great debut record. I highly recommend it to all pop music lovers. She makes me proud to be Canadian. Kristina Maria’s a wonderful vocalist and I hope you guys go buy the album to show your support. We don’t want this diamond in the rough to loose her shine. Remember to follow her on Twitter, Facebook, and her official website.
Well that’s all folks! Stay tuned for future news on Kristina Maria. I’ve got a surprise for you!
Love always,
